Jakob H. Greif is back to Redux the Apocalypse

January 21, 2026 by William Myrl Leave a Comment

Hi guys,

Jakob here, author of Apocalypse Redux, soon to be author of Apocalypse Continuum.

AR was my first series, a regressor story about a world where monsters have to be summoned for XP. They don’t spawn automatically, meaning things should be perfectly handleable, so long as no one does anything stupid… but since these are humans we’re talking about, things go to hell in a handbasket pretty darn quickly.

AC, meanwhile, is set a good fifty years later, humanity is spreading to the stars, and, as it turns out, they’re not alone up there. Except even when the aliens are more peaceful than humans are, it’s not by much, so things do tend to be rather chaotic. And that’s without the AI-controlled war fleets from pre-magic (and therefore pre-FTL) times roaming the cosmos, and alien lunatics who took the power offered by the System and went absolutely wild with it…

Point is, I can’t wait to write it, and I hope you guys will enjoy reading it as well.

But I also wrote a bunch of short stories set in between the two, fully exploring that particular universe in all sorts of fun ways. The heights people can reach and the absurd ways they get there, the interaction of magic and technology, and overall, some of the crazy stuff people do just for the hell of it, now that magic is a thing.

With minimal typoes,

Jakob
