The cult-favorite LitRPG adventure gets a dangerously collectible upgrade.
Yep, Discount Dan Book 1 is officially coming to Kickstarter, but one of the questions I keep kicking around in my head is why? Why do this? Why go to all the effort? I mean, there’s already a paperback version and a hardback version (which are both totally awesome, btw), so why add yet another thing into the mix?
Simple. Because as cool as those are, this version is gonna blow ’em out of the water.
The truth is, there are a lot of limitations when you’re publishing a standard book. To keep prices low so readers everywhere can easily get a physical copy, we can’t include things like foil-stamping, custom interior art, badass dust jackets, or sprayed edges. Heck, most of those drool-worthy features aren’t even possible with most print-on-demand services. But with the Kickstarter version, we can finally pull out all the stops, go balls to the wall, and create a truly insane version of Discount Dan with all the fancy bells and whistles I love as a reader and wish I could include in my books as an author.
I’m telling you now, this thing is going to be a collector’s edition for the ages. A book I’ll be proud to display on my shelf for years to come. As I’m lying on my death bed, thinking about all the choices I’ve made, you better believe this bad boy will be clutched in my frail, old-man arms. As I look at all my loved ones surrounding me, I’ll lift this glorious tome high for all to see and say, “it was totally worth it,” before promptly flatlining—at which point I fully expected to be isekaied into my next great adventure.
